Miniatures Unreleased: Fragments of a Passing Decade

Ten years after Miniatures I, Rui Ribeiro returns to an archive that remained unheard. Recordings made over the course of a decade on different pianos in different spaces and moments were left suspended in time, set aside by doubt, rigor, and the need for distance.

Listening to them now, something else emerges. Perspective shifts. Time softens the weight of judgment and allows for a more open, less guarded kind of listening. What once felt fragile or unfinished now stands as an honest record of a process in constant transformation.

Miniatures Unreleased, Rui Ribeiro’s new album, brings together 14 previously unreleased miniatures for solo piano. Not as an act of recovery but as one of acceptance. Music that does not seek to justify itself or make a statement, only to exist as it was captured, somewhere between the moment and imperfection.

Released on December 19, 2025, the album marks a decade of creation that began with Miniatures I, offering an intimate listening experience of what was left on the margins. An invitation to attention, to detail, and to silence.
